Beneath an enormous rock, a father hid a sword and a pair of sandals for a son not yet born. Years later, young Theseus chooses the most dangerous road to Athens — a highway held by six cruel bandits — to prove himself worthy of being a hero.

Every nine years, Athens must send fourteen young people to the Labyrinth of Crete, from which no one returns. Theseus decides to go in the place of one of them, determined to face the Minotaur — and a princess named Ariadne hands him a simple ball of thread.
