Cronus had defeated his father Uranus and now ruled the universe as King of the Titans. At his side was his wife and sister, Rhea, the gentle Titan of motherhood.

Everything seemed perfect. The Titans ruled wisely. The world flourished.

But Cronus had a terrible secret that tormented him every night: Uranus's curse.

"Just as you betrayed me, your own son will one day betray you!"

These words echoed in Cronus's mind constantly. He began having nightmares where he saw a grown son defeating him, throwing him into Tartarus, taking his throne.

And then... Rhea became pregnant.

When the first baby was born - a beautiful girl named Hestia - Rhea held her in her arms with love and joy.

"Look, my husband! Our daughter! Isn't she beautiful?"

But Cronus snatched the baby from Rhea's arms. And before she could scream, he opened his mouth and... Swallowed THE Child Whole.

Rhea screamed in horror! "What have you done?!"

"Protected my throne," said Cronus coldly. "The curse said MY SON would defeat me. If I swallow all the children, they'll be trapped inside me forever! The curse cannot be fulfilled!"

"They'll die in there!" cried Rhea.

"No," said Cronus. "I am immortal. My stomach is immortal. They will live inside... but will never be able to challenge me."

And so, one by one, as each baby was born, Cronus swallowed it.

Hestia was the first. Then came Demeter, goddess of harvest. Then Hera, queen of the sky. Then Hades, lord of the depths. Then Poseidon, lord of the seas.

Five children swallowed! Five children trapped in eternal darkness inside Cronus!

Rhea was devastated! Five children lost! And now she was pregnant again for the sixth time!

"I won't let him take one more!" she vowed. "I need help!"

She went to Gaia, her mother, the Earth itself. "Help me, mother! Cronus is destroying my family!"

Gaia, who had already seen Uranus imprison her children and now saw Cronus do the same, was furious.

"The pattern repeats," she said sadly. "But this time, we'll break it! When the child is born, bring it to me. I have a plan!"

When the sixth baby was born - a strong and healthy boy - Rhea secretly took him to the island of Crete. There, she hid him in a cave on Mount Ida.

The baby's name was Zeus.

But Cronus was waiting! "Where is the child, Rhea?"

"Here," said Rhea, showing... a stone wrapped in blankets!

Gaia had found a stone the exact size of a baby. Without looking closely (after all, Cronus was so used to swallowing his children he didn't even check anymore!), Cronus opened his mouth and Gulp! He swallowed the stone!

Zeus was safe.

In the cave in Crete, baby Zeus was cared for by gentle nymphs. He drank milk from the magical goat Amalthea. Warriors danced and beat their spears on shields outside the cave to muffle the baby's crying - so Cronus would never hear.

Zeus grew strong and clever. He knew he was Cronus's son. He knew he had siblings trapped in his father's stomach. And he knew what his destiny was.

When Zeus became an adult, he left Crete in disguise. With Gaia's help, he became a cupbearer in Cronus's palace - the young man who served drinks to the king.

No one suspected that the new cupbearer was actually Cronus's son!

One day, Gaia gave Zeus a special potion. "Put this in Cronus's drink. It will make him vomit everything he swallowed!"

Zeus waited for the right moment. During a great feast of the Titans, he served the special drink to Cronus.

Cronus drank it all in one gulp. And then... his stomach began to churn.

"What... what is happening?!" shouted Cronus!

And then he began to vomit! First came out the Stone (which Zeus would later place in Delphi as a monument)!

Then came out, one by one, Cronus's children - now adults, because they were immortal and had grown inside their father's stomach.

Blerg! Poseidon came out, adult and powerful, with sea-colored hair!

Blerg! Hades came out, dark and terrible!

Blerg! Hera came out, majestic as a queen!

Blerg! Demeter came out, smelling of wheat and fertile earth!

Blerg! Hestia came out, the eldest, gentle and radiant!

Cronus finally understood! "Zeus! You! You're the sixth child! The curse! THE CURSE IS FULFILLED!"

"Yes, father," said Zeus, now revealed. "And now you will pay for everything you did!"

The six children of Cronus - Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia - united. They called themselves Olympians, because they decided to make their home atop Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece.

"Surrender, Cronus!" declared Zeus. "Your time is over! Now begins the age of the Olympians!"

But Cronus didn't surrender. He called his Titan brothers! "Brothers! Together we are invincible! Let us crush these insolent children!"

And thus began the Titanomachy - the War of the Titans! The greatest war the cosmos has ever seen!

The war lasted ten years.

The Titans fought from atop Mount Othrys. The Olympians fought from atop Mount Olympus! Between the two mountains, the Earth trembled with each battle!

Cronus was immensely powerful! The Titans were giants experienced in battle! Hyperion shone with blinding light! Oceanus created immense tsunamis! Crius commanded storms!

The Olympians were young and strong, but outnumbered! Zeus threw lightning bolts (which he created himself, but which were weak). Poseidon controlled earthquakes. Hades hid in shadows.

But it wasn't enough! The war was at a stalemate!

Then Gaia told Zeus: "If you want to win, you need the allies Cronus fears! You must free the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires from Tartarus!"

Zeus descended to Tartarus - the deepest prison of the cosmos. There, he killed the dragon Campe who guarded the gates! And he freed the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires!

The Cyclopes were so grateful they made gifts for the three brothers:

For Zeus: they created the Thunderbolt - a perfect and terrible lightning bolt that never missed its target.

For Poseidon: they forged the Trident - capable of causing earthquakes and controlling all seas.

For Hades: they created the Helm of Darkness - a helmet that made the wearer completely invisible.

With these weapons and with the Hecatoncheires (who could throw a hundred stones at once, one per arm!), the tide of war changed!

The final battle was apocalyptic.

Zeus threw thunderbolts that tore the sky! Crackkk! Boooom! Each bolt struck a Titan with devastating force!

Poseidon struck his trident on the ground! Croooommm! Earthquakes made mountains crumble!

Hades, invisible, attacked by surprise.

The Hecatoncheires threw entire mountains! One hundred arms grabbed one hundred giant stones and threw them like deadly hail!

The Titans fought bravely, but couldn't win! One by one, they fell!

Finally, Cronus faced Zeus directly! Father against son! The old king against the new!

"You cannot defeat me!" roared Cronus. "I am your father! I am Time itself!"

"The time of your reign is OVER!" Zeus shouted back!

And he threw his most powerful thunderbolt! Krakathoooooom!

Cronus fell.

The defeated Titans were dragged to Tartarus - the same prison where they had kept the Cyclopes and Hecatoncheires.

Irony: Cronus, who imprisoned his children inside himself, was now imprisoned in the deepest depths of the Earth.

The Hecatoncheires became the guards of Tartarus, ensuring the Titans would never escape.

However, not all Titans were punished! Some had remained neutral in the war or even helped the Olympians:

- Oceanus and his wife Tethys remained in the seas

- Prometheus (son of the Titan Iapetus) had fought ON THE Side of Zeus.

- Themis, Titan of justice, was respected and honored

With complete victory, the three brothers divided the cosmos:

Zeus drew lots (using stones in a helmet). And thus it was decided:

- Zeus would rule the Sky and be King of the Gods.

- Poseidon would rule the Seas and all oceans.

- Hades would rule the Underworld and the realm of the dead.

The Earth would remain everyone's - shared neutral territory.

Zeus ascended to the top of Mount Olympus and built a magnificent palace there! The Olympians would make this mountain their eternal home!

A new era had begun - the Age of the Olympian Gods.

But Gaia looked at everything with sadness. "First Uranus imprisoned his children. Then Cronus. Now Zeus does the same with the Titans. When will this cycle of violence end?"

She didn't know yet... but there would be more wars. More challenges. And Zeus would have to prove he was different from his father and grandfather.
