The sun is going down slowly. The hills turn soft and gold. It is time to call the sheep.

The good shepherd calls each sheep by name.

He calls one, and she comes. He calls another, and she comes too. Baa, says one. Baa, says the other.

The shepherd walks in front. The sheep walk close behind. They know his voice, and they follow.

The good shepherd calls each sheep by name.

Here is grass, green and soft. The sheep eat slowly. Here is water, still and cool. Hush, hush. The sheep drink slowly.

The sky turns orange and low. The evening grows quiet. It is time to go home.

The good shepherd calls each sheep by name.

One by one, they come through the gate. The gate swings shut, gently. Not one is left outside. Every one is safe inside.

Jesus said it this way:

— I am the good shepherd.

He knows your name too.

The sheep lie down in the warm straw. Jesus, the good shepherd, stays near all night long. He does not let one of them be lost. Hush. Close your eyes, little lamb. Good night.
