One Christmas night, in a village high on an Italian hillside, Saint Francis wanted to see Bethlehem with his own two eyes.

Francis grew up rich in Assisi and dreamed of becoming a knight. But an encounter on the road changed his life forever, and the young man of the parties became the little poor man the whole world came to love.

Francis rebuilds churches with his own hands and, without planning it, watches a family of brothers grow around him. Clare runs away from home to follow him, the Pope approves the Order, and Francis crosses a war to speak with the Sultan.

In the last years of his life, sick and nearly blind, Francis received on Mount La Verna the marks of Jesus and composed the most beautiful song of praise to creation. The peaceful farewell of the little poor man of Assisi.
