The Ministry of the Confessional
Padre Pio spent up to 19 hours a day hearing confessions!
He started at 5 AM! He only stopped at midnight!
He barely ate! Barely slept! He lived in the confessional!
People came from all over Italy! Then all over Europe! Then from the whole world!
They formed huge lines! Sometimes they waited days to confess with Padre Pio!
Why? Because he read hearts!
When someone tried to hide a sin, Padre Pio knew!
"You forgot to tell me that sin!" he would say looking firmly.
The person would turn white! "How do you know?"
"Jesus showed me! Confess everything or go away!"
Padre Pio was tough when necessary! He didn't accept false confessions!
Sometimes he sent people away: "Come back when you're truly sorry!"
It seemed cruel, but it was love! He wanted true salvation, not false!
But with the truly repentant, he was pure tenderness!
He cried with them! He embraced them! He comforted them!
"God loves you! Never doubt! Your sins are forgiven!"
Many left the confessional transformed!
Atheists converted! Sinners left vices! Families reconciled!
Padre Pio's confessional was a place of spiritual miracles!
Bilocation
Padre Pio had an extraordinary gift: bilocation!
What is bilocation? Being in two places at the same time!
While his body was in San Giovanni Rotondo, Padre Pio appeared in other places!
He appeared to comfort the dying! To convert sinners! To help those in need!

A famous case: during World War II, American planes were going to bomb San Giovanni Rotondo!
Suddenly, the pilots saw a friar in the sky with his hands raised!
They were terrified! They couldn't release the bombs!
They returned to base without completing the mission!
Years later, they came to San Giovanni Rotondo and saw Padre Pio!
"It's him! The friar we saw in the sky!" they shouted.
Padre Pio saved the entire city through bilocation!
Another case: a woman in America was dying!
Suddenly, she saw a Capuchin friar enter the room!

Persecution by the Church
But not everything was easy for Padre Pio!
He suffered terrible persecution... from the Church itself!
Some priests and bishops doubted him!

They investigated severely! They sent doctors! Theologians! Inspectors!
In 1923, the Vatican took drastic measures!
They prohibited Padre Pio from:
- Celebrating Mass in public!
- Hearing confessions!
- Showing the stigmata!
- Talking to pilgrims!
It was like death in life! Padre Pio suffered tremendously!
His ministry - his reason for living - was taken away!
But he obeyed! He didn't complain! He didn't defend himself!
He just prayed: "God's will be done!"
The faithful were furious! "It's injustice! Padre Pio is a saint!"
But Padre Pio calmed them: "The Church is right to be careful! Always obey the Church!"
What extraordinary humility! To suffer injustice and still defend the Church!
After two years of investigation, the Vatican recognized the error!
In 1925, they restored all of Padre Pio's privileges!
He returned to the confessional! And they never stopped again!
The House for the Relief of Suffering
Padre Pio had a dream: to build a modern hospital for the poor!
"The poor deserve the best doctors and treatments!" he said.
He began raising funds! He asked for donations!
It was a gigantic project! It needed millions!
But he trusted in God! "Providence provides!"
In 1956, he inaugurated the House for the Relief of Suffering!
An ultramodern hospital! With 300 beds! State-of-the-art equipment!
Excellent doctors! Free treatment for the poor!
It was a miracle! How did a poor friar manage to build this?
Through donations! People from all over the world contributed!
But mainly through miracles! Money appeared mysteriously!
Today, the House for the Relief of Suffering is one of the best hospitals in Italy!
It serves thousands! Advanced medical research! Center of excellence!
And it maintains Padre Pio's mission: to treat everyone with love and dignity!
It's a very important part of his legacy!

Padre Pio also founded Prayer Groups worldwide!
Small groups that gather to pray together!
Especially the rosary! The Way of the Cross! Adoration!

The Last Years
In his last years, Padre Pio was old and tired!
He was over 80! But he continued hearing confessions!
Even sick! Even in pain! Even exhausted!
"As long as there's a soul to save, I'll continue!" he said.
He celebrated Mass daily! Always in ecstasy! Always suffering the Passion!
September 23, 1968: Death
On September 22, 1968, Padre Pio celebrated Mass for the last time!
It was a special Mass! 50 years of stigmata!
Thousands were present! They celebrated together!
Padre Pio was weak! But radiant!
After Mass, he blessed everyone! He said: "My children, we will see each other in Paradise!"
In the early morning of September 23, Padre Pio became ill!
The friars came! They prayed with him!
Padre Pio repeated: "Jesus! Mary! Jesus! Mary!"
At 2:30 AM, Padre Pio died peacefully!
He was 81 years old! He lived 50 years with the stigmata!
And at the moment of death, something extraordinary: the stigmata disappeared!

There were no more marks! His hands, feet and side were perfect!
Why did the stigmata disappear?
Padre Pio had asked God years before: "When I die, remove the marks! So I won't draw attention!"
Even in death, Padre Pio wanted humility!

The Funeral
The funeral was gigantic!
100,000 people came to San Giovanni Rotondo!
They cried! They shouted! "The saint died! Our father died!"
But they also rejoiced: "We have a powerful intercessor in heaven!"
The body was exposed! Thousands passed to venerate it!
May 2, 1999: Beatification
In 1999, 31 years after his death, Pope John Paul II beatified Padre Pio!
It was an enormous celebration! Thousands in Rome!
The Pope (who had known Padre Pio personally!) declared:
"Blessed Pio of Pietrelcina! Witness of the suffering Christ!"
June 16, 2002: Canonization
In 2002, just 3 years later, Pope John Paul II canonized Padre Pio!

In St. Peter's Square, 300,000 people celebrated!
It was one of the largest canonizations in history!
